A WORD FROM MR PIENAAR (22 OCTOBER)

As we step into Week 2, it’s hard to believe how swiftly the year is drawing to a close. The final stretch is upon us, and much like the last 100 metres of a race, it calls for focus, perseverance, and heart. This is an opportunity to finish strong, to honour the goals set at the beginning of the year, and to embrace the growth that comes through effort and resilience.

Year 12 ATAR Exams: The countdown has begun—our Year 12 students will commence their ATAR exams on Monday 3 November (Week 4). We encourage each student to seek guidance from their teachers and lean into the support available. As Nelson Mandela once said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” You’ve come so far, and we believe in you wholeheartedly.

Valedictory Service – Friday 24 October: A heartfelt thank you to all staff who have poured their time and energy into organising our 2025 Valedictory Service. This cherished event is a celebration of achievement, community, and hope. We look forward to welcoming parents, friends, staff, and Year 11 students as we honour our graduating class.

Areyonga and Indonesia Service Trips: Last week, our staff and students returned from their Service trips with hearts full and spirits enriched. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the experiences shared will soon be presented to the entire middle/senior school in an upcoming assembly. These journeys remind us of the power of service and the beauty of connection.

PAT Testing – Years 6–10: This week, students in Years 6 to 10 will undertake Progressive Achievement Tests (PATs) in Reading and Mathematics.
These assessments help us understand each student’s progress and guide our teaching with clarity and purpose.

Farewell to Year 12s: As our Year 12 students enter their final official week at Unity, emotions run deep—joy, anticipation, and reflection. We honour each of you as you prepare for your final exams. You are in our prayers, and we are here to support you every step of the way. May you walk forward with courage and peace, knowing that your journey has been meaningful and your future is bright.

In closing, to our dedicated students: as we enter Term 4, let this be a time of renewed commitment and perseverance to stay focused and work diligently.  Remember, your teachers are here to support you—never hesitate to reach out and ask for guidance.

To our wonderful parents and caregivers: your unwavering support continues to be the bedrock of our students’ success. Your encouragement, presence, and partnership are vital in our students’ educational journey.  Thank you for walking alongside us with such grace and strength. We are truly grateful for all that you do.

My bible verse is the theme of our Graduating Class of 2025:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
