OUTDOOR EDUCATION
OPPORTUNITIES
Outdoor Education is a practical course gaining prominence and popularity at Unity College, available for students to study as an elective in Years 10 and 11.
Pushing students out of their normal and into a world of self-reliance and leadership, Outdoor Education allows students to gain an understanding of ecology, the environment, sustainability, cultural perspectives and physical and emotional health through participating in selected outdoor activities.
EXPERIENCES
The Outdoor Education course at both Stage 1 and stage 2 includes various practical excursions/expeditions where students are challenged in their acquired skills and knowledge.
Year 10 students complete a 2-day rock climbing excursion in the Adelaide Hills and 4-day bushwalking expedition to Mambray Creek in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
Year 11 students further develop their skills and knowledge from completing the Year 10 course and participate in two 4-day kayaking expeditions (Coorong and Ral Ral Creek) and a 3-day rock climbing experience.
