LUTHERAN EDUCATION
“The purpose of Lutheran schools is to make Jesus Christ known to the students and families. Yet the schools are also educational institutions, which must do the educational task well. Schools will do this when they pursue what is educationally best for each student, within a Christian context and from a Christian point of view. Lutheran schools can never sacrifice their spiritual centeredness for the sake of education or they would no longer be schools of the church. Nor can Lutheran schools forsake their educational purposes in the interests of spirituality, or they would forfeit the right to be schools. It is indeed a tension that needs to be held in balance.” Lutheran Education Update Issue 30
The Lutheran Church of Australia has a rich history in education. Since the first Lutheran school opened in 1839, Lutheran schools have grown considerably with currently almost 130 Lutheran Schools and Pre-Schools in Australia – 39 of these being located in South Australia. Operating for over 175 years, Lutheran schools have built a reputation for excellence in Christian education.
Unity College enjoys the many benefits of being part of the highly regarded Lutheran Schools system in Australia.
