A WORD FROM MR PIENAAR

Term 3 is moving quickly, and we have already reached Week 5. There are many exciting events still to come this term, including the Unity Agricultural Show, the Adelaide Show competitions, Pedal Prix, and a range of other opportunities for our students to shine. These events are only possible because of the dedication and commitment of our staff, along with the enthusiasm and participation of our students. Many hours of planning and preparation take place behind the scenes to ensure these experiences are both successful and rewarding. I encourage all parents and caregivers to attend and support these events as we celebrate the talents and achievements of our students.

This week, we held our Year 10-11 Course Counselling sessions, which mark an important milestone in our students’ educational journey at Unity College. The process ran very smoothly, thanks to the preparation and thoughtful consideration shown by both students and parents as they finalised their subject selections. I would like to sincerely thank our course counsellors, Mr Wiese, Mrs Stewart, Ms Borolo, and Mrs Fielke, for their professionalism, guidance, and commitment to making this a successful and positive experience for our families.

We are also looking forward to our Music Showcase on Friday, 21 August. This special evening will highlight the wonderful musical talents of our students, including our ensembles and solo performers. I wish Mr Gallasch and his team every blessing as they continue their preparations for what promises to be an enjoyable and memorable evening.

Later this term, we will begin the process of selecting our Student Leaders and House Captains for 2027. Applications are now open, with House Captain interviews taking place in Week 8 and Student Leader interviews in Week 9. These leadership positions provide valuable opportunities for students to serve their peers and contribute positively to our college community. I wish all applicants every success as they step forward to be considered for these important roles.

Our Year 12 students are now entering the final weeks of their schooling at Unity College. I encourage each of them to remain focused, work diligently, and make the most of every opportunity as they prepare for the completion of their studies. Our teachers are committed to supporting them and are available to provide guidance, encouragement, and assistance whenever needed. We want every student to achieve their personal best and finish their Unity journey with confidence and pride.

SPIRITUAL FOOD
A Bible verse that resonated with me this week is:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8

As I reflect on this verse, I am reminded of the many blessings God has bestowed upon our college community. We are especially grateful for the rain we have received and for God’s ongoing provision in our daily lives. Above all, we give thanks for His grace, His unconditional love, mercy, and forgiveness that sustain and guide us each day.

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our parents and caregivers for your continued support of Unity College. The strong partnership between home and school plays a vital role in the growth and success of our students. Your encouragement, involvement, and collaboration with our staff help create an environment where young people can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

As we continue through the year, let us work together with a shared commitment to nurturing and supporting every student, enabling them to reach their full God-given potential.

Blessings
Mr Francois Pienaar, Principal
