The new Unity College Early Leaning Centre (ELC) is currently under construction and is situated on the corner of Ibis and Swanport Roads, on our Junior Campus. Enrolments are now invited for commencement in June 2024.
Unity College ELC is an inclusive Christ-centred community, providing excellence in education, where learning is celebrated and values are developed for life. We encourage and support the development of children’s resilience by empowering confidence and being courageous in all that we do. The curriculum framework for ELC children is designed to help them transition seamlessly into school life in a nurturing environment, with regular interactions with our Junior School community.
Our ELC will have a strong emphasis on providing a positive learning environment through play, inquiry and investigating, rather than focusing on the final product. Children are provided with the highly regarded International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) interwoven with the principles, pedagogy and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Together, these programs provide an exciting and rich learner-centred, play based and inquiry curriculum, with inspiration taken from the Reggio Emilia philosophy that recognises children as strong, competent and resourceful learners.
Nature play is an integral part of the Unity College ELC curriculum, where children can create their own knowledge through exploration and engagement with the natural environment. The outside play and learning areas will include the opportunity to have direct supervised access to our newly developed bush block.
At Unity College ELC, your child will be actively cared for and supported by qualified educators, who will extend learning by encouraging them to explore, wonder, predict, test, problem solve, negotiate and research through play, ensuring a smooth transition to Reception.
