A WORD FROM MR PIENAAR (13 NOVEMBER)

We’ve reached Week 5! There are just 43 days until Christmas and although I don’t usually count, I know our students certainly do. The year is flying by, and while there’s still much to accomplish, I encourage everyone to stay focused and give their best effort right to the end. Our Step-Up week for Middle/Senior students will take place in Weeks 8 and 9, offering them a chance to transition smoothly into their new year levels. Our Junior School has some exciting activities planned as well with their Step-Up taking place in Week 9.

ATAR Exams: Our Year 12 ATAR students are nearing the end of their exams, with their last one set for today. After weeks of preparation and hard work, they truly deserve a well-earned break. We wish them the very best as they await their results, which will be released on the 16th of December. To our 2024 Year 12s, welcome as UCOS members of Unity College! We are excited to continue our connection with you as you take the next steps in your future.

Remembrance Day – “Lest we forget”: On Monday, 11th November, our College community came together to honour Remembrance Day, commemorating the signing of the armistice that ended World War I. We paused for The Ode and observed one minute’s silence to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We give thanks to God for their service and courage.

Spiritual Food: As always, I give thanks for the support of our College community and for God’s guidance.  I leave you with a bible verse… “You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain while it blazed with fire to the very heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.” Deuteronomy 4:11

God is powerful, beyond our reach, even startling. And yet He’s also full of love, always reaching out to us. A God both powerful and loving—this is who we desperately need.

May God bless you today and always.

Mr Francois Pienaar
